aims and objectives
  • To promote the noble ideals of the National Institute as embodied in its motto: “Towards a Better Society”;
  • To promote understanding, unity, brotherhood and cooperation among the members;

The need for government and the Nigerian society to constantly tap from the rich mix of high level manpower churned out by NIPSS informed the formation of Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).








  • DIG Victor Dung Pam (rtd), NPM, mni, Gbong Gwom Jos, on 7th March 2009 after a brief illness.  DIG Pam was a participant of SEC 2/1980 and his research project was on The Cooperative Systems in Nigeria.  He served the Nigeria Police Force meritoriously for 31 years, retiring on 29th December 1989.
  • Brigadier Harris Otadafevwerha Diodemisi Eghagha (rtd), mni, in March 2009.  Brigadier Eghagha was a participant of SEC 2/1980 and his research project title was Problems of Urbanization in Nigeria.  At various time in his distinguished career, he served as the Commander Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers, Military Administrator of Ogun State (1978/1979) and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
  • Mr Jonathan Mafwil, husband of Dr (Mrs) Juliana Mafwil, mni, SEC 24/2002 on 30th March 2009 after a brief illness.
  • Miss Chinyere Dike, daughter of Mr Chijioke Dike, mni, a retired permanent secretary of the Imo State Civil Service, SEC 6/1984.  Miss Chinyere, a final year medical student of the Abia State University transited on 7th April 2009 after a brief illness.
  • AIG Ahmadu Sheidu, OFR, mni, in India, in May 2009, after an illness.  AIG Sheidu was of SEC 9/1987 and researched on The Role of the Police and the Army in Handling Disturbances in Nigeria.
  • Hajiya Hadiza Sokoto Mohammed, wife of Mallam Abubakar Sokoto Mohammed, mni, Monitor General of SEC 29/2007.  Hajiya Hadiza passed on during child birth on 9th June 2009.
  • Maj Gen Innocent Shaibu Ejeh on 30th May 2009 after a protracted illness.  Gen Ejeh was the Monitor General of SEC 28/2006 and researched on ' National Health Insurance Scheme and the Nigerian Armed Forces Medical Services: Towards an Alternative Financing Strategy'.  Our late member served the Nigerian Army for 32 years without blemish and rose to the peak of his career as the Commandant Nigerian Army Medical Corps and School.
  • Mrs Florence Olufunsho Durojaiye, wife of Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye mni, participant of SEC 1/1979 and former President AANI.  Mrs Durojaiye transited in June 2009 after an illness.
  • Hajiya Esther Fika
  • Hajiya Bilikisu Abdullahi Moahmmed.
  • Ibrahim Fika.

    Wife,  daughter and son of Dr Adamu Fika, mni, of SEC 3/1981, separately in July 2009.  While Hajiya Fika died of natural causes, Hajiya Mohammed and Mr Ibrahim Fika died on account of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

  • Lady (AIG) RI Iyamabo (rtd), CON, NPM, mni, SEC 16/1994 on 22 July 2009 at her Lagos residence after a brief illness. Late Lady Iyamabo served the Nigeria Police Force meritoriously for 35 years and held various strategic appointments in the course of her career.  Her individual research project was on ‘The Nigeria Police and Facilitation of Justice in Law Courts’.

  • Alhaji Aliyu Alkali, mni, FNIM, in September 2009, after a protracted illness. Alhaji Alkali was a participant of SEC 14/1992 and researched on 'The Need for the Incorporation of Solar Energy in the Accelerated Rural Development Programme in Nigeria'.

  • Maj Gen Philemon Bawa Tnadah(rtd) mni, SEC 13/1991 on 10th October 2009 after a brief illness. His individual research project while at NIPSS was Engineering Services Support to the Nigerian Army with Emphasis on Civil Works and the Strategy for their Improvement.

  • Mrs Lucy Iheanacho, 91, mother of Mr Nathaniel O. Iheanacho of the Customs Service, SEC 28/2006, on 14th October 2009.

  • Prof Zak A. Obanu, mni, on 10th October 2009 after an illness. A former Rector of the Akanu Ibiam Polytechnic, Unwana, Ebonyi State, Prof Obanu was of SEC 17/1995 and researched on “Strategic Management of Federal Polytechnics for Technical Manpower Production”.

  • Brig Gen Shedu Zibiri, mni, SEC 12/1990 on 27 November 2009 after a brief illness. While a participant, Late Brig Gen Zibiri reasearched on "The Role of Civil Defence and National Security: A case Study of Nigeria."

  • Mr Otaki M. Oyigbenu, mni, on 5th December, 2009 after a brief illness. Until his death, Mr Oyigbenu was a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. A member of SEC 20/1999, he researched on “Plateau Agricultural Development Programme: An Appraisal”.

  • Sir Godswill C. Okezie,mni, SEC 2/1980 on 2nd December 2009 after a brief illness.Until his death, Sir Okezie was a retired Permanent Secretary and one time Secretary to the Government of old Imo State. While at NIPSS, his research project was on "Local Governments as Agencies for Development".

  • Her Excellency, Hajiya Maryam Babangida, former First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria & wife of Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babagida, GCFR, mni, former President and Commander-in-Chief, and Chairman Board of Patrons, AANI, on 27th December 2009 after a potracted illness.

  • Chief (Mrs) Mary Olayemi Idowu Abeke Ajayi, 77, mother-in-law of Maj Gen David M. Jemibewon, CFR, mni, SEC 1/1979, founding President AANI and member Board of Patrons, on 24th December 2009 after a brief illness. Burial is on 23rd January 2010, at Orin, Ido Osi LGA, Ekiti State

  • Mr Eugene Okwe Obi, father of Mr Joseph Bulem Obi, mni, SEC 29/2007 on 1st January 2010, aged 78. Burial is on Saturday 16th Jan at Odajie-Mbube, Ogoja LGA, Cross River State.

  • Hajia Talatu Musa Telle, younger sister of DIG John Hamza Ahmadu, OON, NPM, mni, SEC 26/2004, on 25th January 2010 after a brief illness.

  • Brig Gen J.O. Ewubare (rtd), mni, SEC 19/1997 on 1st July 2009 after a brief illness.While a participant, he researched on "The Command Schools in the Nigerian Army:Problems and Prospects."

  • Cdre Christopher O. Rennaiye (rtd), mni, on 13th January 2010 after a brief illness.A member of SEC 13/1991, late Cdre Rennaiye researched on "The need for a Credible Sea Power for the Attainment of Nigeria's Defence Objectives."

  • Engr (Dr) Ahmed Olatunde Onipede, brother-in-law of Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, mni, SEC 12/1990, Member Board of Patrons and Past President AANI on 14th February 2010.

  • Mr Wakil Inuwa Balami Bwala, 98, father of Dr Wapada Balami, mni, SEC 27/2005, on 13th March 2009. He is survived by 80 children, 275 grand children and one great grand child.

  • Cdre A.A. Ademoroti (rtd), mni, on 15th March 2010 after an illness.  He was of SEC 7/1985 and researched “Technological Breakthrough in Nigeria: Strategies” while a Participant.

  • Mr. Olusola Ajakaiye, 43, son of Ambassador Ayo Ajakaiye, mni, SEC 15/1993 on 22nd March 2010 at Kubwa, Abuja.

  • Mr. Patrick Odudu, son of Elder William Odudu, mni, SEC 11/1989 in March 2010 in the United Kingdom.

  • Mrs. S.A. Songonuga, 70, mother of Mr. Sola Ephraim-Oluwanuga, mni, SEC 31/2009 on 12th March 2010.

  • Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, former Minister of State for Power and Steel and wife of Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, mni, SEC 2/1980, former Secretary-General AANI (1990-1994) on 6th April 2010.
  • Mrs Ibada Yarima, 72, elder sister of Dr KL Fwa, mni, SEC 27/2005 and Prince MZ Fwa, mni, SEC 28/2006, current Vice President AANI, on 28th May 2010.

  • Hajiya Amina, mother of Alhaji Munnir Jafaru, mni, SEC 13/1991, Yeriman Zazzau, on 6th May 2010.

  • Air Vice Marshal Winston I. Aleyideino (rtd), OON, mni, on 1st June 2010 after a brief illness. AVM Aleyideino was a participant of SEC 2/1980 and researched on Modernization of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Aged 68, he served the Nigerian Air Force meritoripusly for many years.

  • Mama Dorkat Useni, 91, mother of Lt Gen JT Useni (rtd), mni, SEC 3/1981, member AANI Board of Patrons, on 25th June 2010.

  • Mr Abdullahi Ikioda, elder brother of Cdre AO Ikioda,mni, SEC 27/2005, on 22nd June 2010 after a brief illness.

  • Alhaji Idris Audu-Bida, husband of Hajiya Aisha Dankani, mni, SEC 24/2002 on 18th june 2010 after a protracted illness.

  • Cp Emmanuel A.B. Adeleye(rtd), mni on 28th June 2010 after a brief illness. A Participant of SEC 6/1984, he researched on "Armed Robbery in Nigeria: Evolution Causes and Cure".

  • Mr Marsh S.A. Ebimoghan,mni, SEC 21/1999, immediate past Head o Service Bayelsa State, in a road traffic accident on 12th July 2010. While a Participant at NIPSS he researched on "The Socio-Economic Problems in the Niger Delta: A Case Study of Bayelsa State".

  • Alhaji W.A. Kareem, mni, SEC 28/2006 on 25th July 2010. Until his death, he was Chairman of Ports Consultative Council (PCC). While a participant, Alhaji Kareem researched on " Port Sector Reforms: A case Study of the Nigeria Ports Authority."

  • Chief Babs Alapini, aged 67, elder brother of AIG John Olatunji Alapini (rtd), mni, SEC 29/2007, on 29th July 2010 after a brief illness.

  • Mama Ekenta Uba Uzoka, aged 97, mother of Amb (Mrs) Azuka Uzoka-Emejulu, mni, SEC 27/2005, Nigeria's Current Ambassador to Senegal, on 30th July 2010. Burial is slated for Ebenese Ihioma, Orlu, Imo State on 11th August 2010.

  • Hajiya Laraba Daggash, mother of Mrs Ammah Habiba Wakil, mni, SEC 22/2000 and mother-in-law of Amb Baba Gana Wakil, mni, SEC 26/2004 on 31st July 2010.

  • Mrs Mariam Kike Olatunde, mother of Mr SF Olatunde, mni, SEC 28/2006, on 6thAugust 2010.

  • Hajiya Aisha Ummi Ahmed, wife of Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed, mni, SEC 28/2006, in India on 7th August 2010.

  • Hajiya Hadiza Yauri Babale, wife of Alhaji Umar Yauri Babale, mni, SEC 27/2005 on 11th August 2010.

  • Mr Naphtali Fwa, 62, elder brother of Prince MZ Fwa, mni (SEC 28/2006), Vice President AANI, on 21st September 2010.

  • Prof Ibrahim Bulus, mni, SEC 24/2003, on 20th September 2010, on account of injuries he sustained in a road traffic accident.While a Participant at NIPSS, he researched on "Teacher Education in the Information Technology Age: Challenges & Prospects".

  • Mrs Clara Aiyebho Oshiomhole, wife of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, mni, SEC 9/1987, Governor of Edo State on 7th December 2010 after a prolonged illness.

  • Col DB Takai (rtd), mni, SEC 28/2006 at Kaduna on 12th December 2010 after a brief illness. While at NIPSS, he researched on Military Trials, Human Rights And the Rule of Law in Nigeria (1994-2005): An Appraisal.

  • Chief (Mrs) Ezinne Eunice Egwuagu, mother of Brig Gen Austin Kalu Egwuagu (SEC 31/2009) on 30th NoVember 2020.
  • Chief Godwin Nwachukwu Okafor, father of Mr Emma Obi Okafor (SEC 29/2007) on 7th February 2011.
